In partnership with the nonprofit organization Fundacion Accion Interna, singer Karol G recently made a trip to El Buen Pastor women’s prison in Bogotá, Colombia, to visit with the prisoners and perform some of her hit songs.

El Buen Pastor has been called a prison “known for notoriously harsh conditions and unthinkable levels of overcrowding.”

According to its website, Fundacion Accion Interna was created to “improve the quality of life of the prison and post-prison population in Colombia” and “aims to transform, reclaim and reconcile the prison population with civil society.”

In a video posted by Karol G’s father Guillermo Giraldo, Karol G is seen performing for the inmates while they sing along. “These are our best concerts – the ones we enjoy the most,” Giraldo wrote. “We continue to bring peace, joy, faith, and hope to all the prisons in the country. Today, El Buen Pastor from Bogotá – only love and happiness with all the queens.”

On Fundacion Accion Interna’s official Instagram, the nonprofit called Karol G’s visit to the prison “a day not to forget” and thanked her for believing in second chances.

“Thank you [Karol G] for giving this moment full of music, generosity, empathy, and solidarity with all the women deprived of their liberty in [El Buen Pastor] women’s prison in Bogotá,” the foundation posted.

Founder Johana Bahamon also shared her thoughts about Karol G’s trip to the prison. “[Karol G] is [on] another level of generosity, love, simplicity, humanity, and empathy,” she wrote.
