Karol G is teaming up with another Colombian superstar, none other than Shakira. Today (Feb. 14), Karol G confirmed that La Loba will be featured on her upcoming album Mañana Será Bonito.

Shakira has been on Karol G’s wish list of collaborators for years. Back in 2021, Karol G revealed that Shakira’s team turned down an opportunity to feature on her song “Punto G.” In the lyrics of the sensual song, she notably called out Shakira and Jennifer Lopez’s names. “I’m not saying it was [Shakira that turned down the song],” Karol G said. “I never said, ‘I sent it to Shakira and she told me that she doesn’t want to sing with me.’ No. We sent it to her team, to her label, to the closest we could get [to her]. We sent the song and it didn’t happen.”

Now Karol G’s dream of collaborating with Shakira is coming true. In an interview with the New York Times, she revealed that Shakira features on the song “TQG.” According to Karol G, Shakira identified with the message of the kiss-off anthem, where she was “letting a lot of anger go.” “[Shakira] was, like, ‘Oh my God, thank you. Those lyrics are perfectly the way I feel right now,’” Karol G said.

“TQG” could be an abbreviation of “Te Quedó Grande.” Last month, Karol G was spotted at a Lakers game in L.A. wearing the phrase on her shirt. Shakira also sang those words in “BZRP Music Sessions #53,” her diss track against her ex Gerard Piqué. Shakira’s song with Bizarrap has become a global hit, so “TQG” with Karol G will most likely follow suit in terms of success.

Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito is coming out on Feb. 24. The LP also includes collaborations with Sean Paul, Bad Gyal, Maldy, Sech, and Justin Quiles. It appears that Shakira’s next single will be “Copa Vacía” with Colombian singer Manuel Turizo.
