Christina Aguilera is celebrating the 25th anniversary of her debut album in a special way. This morning (Sept. 23), the pop icon released a live EP where she re-recorded a few of her classics with special guests like Sabrina Carpenter and MGK.

Aguilera launched her music career on Aug. 25, 1999, with the release of her self-titled album. The LP included her Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits “Genie in a Bottle,” “What a Girl Wants,” and “Come On Over Baby (All I Want is You).” A year later, she would embrace her Ecuadorian heritage with the album Mi Reflejo, which included Spanish versions of all the aforementioned songs. To celebrate her music career turning 25-years-old, Aguilera teamed up with Spotify to revisit her classics with a new live EP.

The 25th Anniversary of Christina Aguilera: Spotify Anniversaries LIVE EP includes six songs from her debut album. Aguilera’s EP release also came with a full concert special on YouTube. A highlight on the EP is Aguilera’s new version of “What a Girl Wants” featuring Sabrina Carpenter — who recently featured Jenna Ortega in a music video. The two women beautifully harmonize to the sassy love song. Aguilera’s voice has only grown stronger and more mature since she originally recorded these songs in 1999.

Aguilera added a new edge to “Genie in a Bottle,” with MGK joining her with his electric guitar. She also recorded new versions of deep cuts from the Christina Aguilera album like “Obvious.” The song’s original writer, Heather Holley, reunited with Aguilera to play the piano during that performance.

Aguilera also performed her classics from that album like “Come On Over,” “I Turn to You,” and “Reflection,” which was first featured on Disney’s Mulan soundtrack in 1998. She would re-embrace her Latine roots on her last album, Aguilera, released in 2022 with the song “Pa Mis Muchachas” featuring Becky G, Nicki Nicole, and Nathy Peluso.
