OhGeesy is showing off his Mexican roots. On Mar. 4, the Mexican-American rapper released his newest music video for “Novio #2,” featuring música mexicana star Junior H — notably singing in English for the first time.
Before going solo, OhGeesy — born Alejandro Lloyd Carranza — was part of Shoreline Mafia, where he rapped, chose beats, and directed music videos. Though the hip-hop group disbanded in 2020, they are scheduled to make their comeback at Coachella this year. The group’s biggest hits include songs like “Musty,” “Bands,” and “Nun Major.”
In the meantime, OhGeesy is continuing his musical journey as a solo rapper. His newest album Paid N Full came out on Feb. 14, featuring Latine artists like Guatemalan-Mexican-American rapper Lefty Gunplay and Junior H singing in both Spanish and English.
And how did this Junior H feature come to be? Turns out it was a surprise to the rapper himself. “It just organically happened. We sent out music to his team to listen to, and one day, when I went to Junior H’s party, they told me, ‘You know he did work on your song?’” he shares with Remezcla over a phone interview. “I didn’t even ask him to do it; he just did it.”

When asked if he listened to música mexicana, given his interest in Junior H, OhGeesy said he didn’t listen to Spanish music, but he’s “really getting into it.” Moreover, it seems like his newest music video is also connecting him with his Mexican roots. Though his parents are from the states of Yucatan and Michoacan, he finally stepped back into deep Mexican grounds for the first time to record the video for “Novio #2” in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur.
Directed by Austin Simkins, the music video features shots of the two Mexican artists trading alluring verses about being a side lover. OhGeesy is seen in a yacht with models and later in what appears to be a private jet. Junior H, decked in an all-black outfit, is seen in separate frames in a luxurious house. He sings, “I don’t wanna f*ck, I just want the head / Baby, you’re so bad, she can break her neck.”
Though the two artists don’t appear together in the music video, OhGeesy only has good things to say about Junior H. “It didn’t feel like work, it felt like homie sh*t. Real friendship,” he says about working with the singer iin the new music video. “I learned that Junior H was real. He’s real as f*ck.”

Up next, OhGeesy hopes to collaborate with more Latine artists. He says he wants to work with Peso Pluma, Fuerza Regida, and Natanael Cano. Beyond rap and hip-hop, he also mentions that he wants to do reggaeton music.
Above all, he says he’s proud of his heritage. “I’m proud. I’m a very proud Mexican,” OhGeesy says before ending the call. “And I’m proud that I inspire so many Mexican kids.”
