After singing Shakira and Alejandro Sanz’s “La Tortura” in Colombia, Damiano David continued to surprise his fans with out-of-the-box covers. On Nov. 17, the Italian singer-songwriter performed his take of Natanael Cano’s “Mi Bello Ángel” cover at the Auditorio BB in Mexico City, Mexico.

David performed his version of the heartfelt corrido tumbado, accompanied by an acoustic guitar and a rhythmic bass. With on-point Spanish, the Måneskin vocalist sang lyrics like, “Solo tú eres la persona, la que me ilusiona / La que me emociona, por ti pierdo el rumbo / Y en cada segundo me voy de este mundo con sentirte a ti / Entre el cielo y el infierno / Solo hay un espacio, solo hay un abismo / Es que yo pierdo el ritmo cuando me abandonas / Y me quedo solo, solo sin ti,” without missing a beat. Fans were surprised to hear David perform this cover and sang along.

Cano’s version of “Mi Bello Ángel” is part of his album Nata Montana, released in 2023. Penned by America Sierra, the song has been covered previously by artists like Los Primos MX with a more pop ballad flair. However, the version David performed echoes Cano’s sped-up acoustic corrido tumbado version, which made the song more popular than ever among today’s generation. Moreover, this isn’t the first time David sings música mexicana. In 2023, Måneskin covered Peso Pluma and Eslabon Armado’s “Ella Baila Sola” at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City. Måneskin has also covered songs by other Latine artists such as  Mon Laferte, Soda Stereo, and Juanes.

Up next, David will continue his world tour in the U.S. His upcoming trek includes stops in Seattle, WA (Nov. 21); San Francisco, CA (Nov. 23); Los Angeles, CA (Nov. 25); Chicago, IL (Nov. 29); and Detroit, MI (Nov. 30).
