Spider-Man Voice Actor Alexis Ortega Dies at 38

The voice behind Spider-Man in Latin America, Mexican voice actor Alexis Ortega, has sadly passed away. He died at the age of 38.
Throughout his career, Ortega contributed his voice for the Spanish dubs of many blockbuster movies in Latin America. But he most notably voiced Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the Spanish dubbed versions of the MCU, which includes films like Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Avengers: Infinity War.
Ortega’s voice can also be heard in Big Hero 6, Star Wars: Rogue One, Finding Dory, and Cars 3. And he stepped in front of the camera as well to play Jorge “El Burro” Van Rankin in Luis Miguel: The Series and Federico “DJ Freddy” Limantour in La Casa de las Flores.
According to El Mundo America, Ortega was also working on dubbing projects linked to popular YouTube personality MrBeast.
The Instagram page World Dubbing News was the first to report Ortega’s death last night (January 26). The caption of the post in Spanish reads: “We regret to announce the sensitive passing of voice actor Alexis Ortega, we send our condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues in this difficult time.”
Ortega was 38-years-old at the time of his passing. As of press time, no cause of death or further details about Ortega’s passing have been revealed. There’s also no word if Ortega was set to dub Holland’s voice again in the upcoming movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will be released on July 31.
