Shakira Barrera is a Nicaraguan-American actress, dancer, and humanitarian from Englewood, New Jersey. She is a graduate of Rutgers University with an earned BFA in Dance from Mason Gross School of the Arts. She has worked in films and made television appearances on shows like “Glow,” “Lethal Weapon,” and “Queen of the South.” Shakira was a part of Sundance Film Festival 2018 with the HBO Latino film, “High & Mighty.” Shakira earned her first SAG Award nomination for Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy Series for season 2 of “Glow” on Netflix. Shakira is a donor for the non-profit hospital in Nicaragua for kids with disabilities, Hogar Protección Pajarito Azul. She is proud to be ambassador for the non-profit organization Amigos De Nicaragua- Azul Y Blanco and hopes to help Nicaraguan refugees affected by the country’s current climate.
