Johann Vera for Duro

A Latine pop star is looking to shake things up in the men’s underwear and lingerie space. Johann Vera is blending his worlds of music and fashion with the launch of his sexy and daring line Duro.

Vera, who is known for his work as a singer and influencer, hails from Guayaquil, Ecuador. He first rose to prominence in 2015 as a finalist on the reality TV show La Banda, which led to the formation of CNCO. Though he didn’t make the cut for the boy band, Vera has kept his career going by branching out into different parts of the entertainment industry, including acting and more TV appearances.

Last August, he came out as queer with the music video for his personal song “Closet.” While continuing to celebrate who he is and his newfound freedom of artistic expression, Vera’s empire is also expanding with Duro, his underwear brand collaboration with Voigt.

“I want to redefine masculinity and change the way we dress without sacrificing comfort,” Vera wrote in a post about Duro. “You can be sexy, you can have fun and feel good about yourself. That’s what #DURO is all about. An artistic extension of myself, inspired by my music. I invite you to follow the brand and check out the first collection.”

Vera was inspired to create Duro after his stylist put him in a thong in one of his music videos. The three collections are inspired by the videos from his debut EP Nada Importa En Verdad. The “Cielo” line includes a light blue brief and sheer long-sleeve shirt. The “Nada Importa En Verdad” line features a faux thong and tank top with asymmetrical cutouts. Lastly, the “Closet” line includes a sleeveless shirt with “Duro” on the chest and a fiery red brief with a risque cutout in the back.

The lingerie is now available for order on the brand’s official website here
