As the race for the next governor of Puerto Rico heats up, Bad Bunny is encouraging people on the island to vote. The Puerto Rican superstar is incentivizing his fans in particular to go to the polls through his upcoming concerts.

On November 5, 2024, the people of Puerto Rico will vote in the gubernatorial election. The primary elections to determine the party leaders moving forward in the race were held on June 2, 2024. Jesús Manuel Ortiz is representing the Popular Democratic Party while Jenniffer González-Colón defeated current governor Pedro Pierluisi in the New Progressive Party race. They will face competition from Citizen’s Victory Movement’s Javier Cordova Iturregui, Project Dignity’s Javier Jiménez Pérez, and Puerto Rican Independence Party’s Juan Dalmau Ramírez.

Bad Bunny is bringing his Most Wanted Tour to his island this week. He will perform three concerts on June 7, 8, and 9 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico. Fans who couldn’t get a ticket to those shows will be able to watch a live stream of the first two concerts live in Caribbean Cinemas. The screenings will also include an exclusive documentary about Bad Bunny.

For today only, the Caribbean Cinemas box offices are offering two tickets for the price of one to people who present their voter ID card. Bad Bunny is calling the initiative “Sácala y Perrea” to encourage Puerto Ricans to vote in their upcoming local elections.

Throughout his career, Bad Bunny has used his platform to increase voter turnout in Puerto Rico’s elections. In the last gubernatorial election in 2020, he posted a photo of his voter ID card with the message, “Take it out and use it!” Bad Bunny was also spotted voting at a poll while wearing a Lady Gaga Chromatica album t-shirt. The year before, he protested with Boricuas for the resignation of disgraced governor Ricardo Rosselló, who later stepped down.
