Christian Nodal is sporting a new look. On April 8, the Mexican singer-songwriter uploaded a seemingly new face card, giving social media users plenty to chat about.

“Si alguien te dice que yo me volví un cabron… DILES QUE UN KBRON Y MEDIO ❤️‍🔥,” the Sonora-born artist wrote online. The post’s caption translates to: “If someone tells you that I’ve become a bastard… TELL THEM I’M A BASTARD AND A HALF ❤️‍🔥.”

The new social media carousel features Nodal’s clear face without any tattoos. His face is known to be covered in ink—spanning from a horseshoe and spiderweb to a heart—and that’s just on his right side. Other photos show him without face tattoos in a suit, surrounded by $100 bills, and in front of a shower.

With this post, social media users started to compare him to Johnny Depp – perhaps due to his similar jawline and haircut. A social media user wrote in Spanish: “Christian Nodal without tattoos even looks like Johnny Depp,” paired with a young photo of Depp. An Instagram user, somosneda, echoed the same sentiment in Spanish: “Johnny Depp is that you?

Other social media users don’t see the resemblance. A social media user commented in Spanish: “Christian Nodal wishes he was as handsome as Johnny Depp, there is no comparison.”

Although it’s unconfirmed, the face tattoo-less look could be for a new music video. Billboard reports that days before, the singer wrote that he was going to shoot new visuals and even teased a new album. After publishing the now-viral photos, he also posted an Instagram story with the words: “2/6” which could mean June 2, or maybe two out of six songs/visuals done. It’s worth noting that his face tattoos were back in place in the Instagram story.

However, it’s not the first time the “Botella Tras Botella” singer hints at a tattoo-less face. Last May, he revealed he wanted to get rid of the ink in that area. “I want my daughter to recognize my face,” Nodal said at the time. “I want her to see my face without [the tattoos].”
