The Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck era is once again coming to an end. News broke early Tuesday evening (August 20) that Lopez filed for divorce after two years of marriage.
The couple first met on the set of the film Gigli in 2002 and got engaged. That relationship ended in 2004. They rekindled their romance in 2021 and announced they were engaged a second time in April 2022. They were married on July 16, 2022 and had a second, larger ceremony on August 20, 2022 – exactly two years to the date that Lopez filed for divorce.
“For me, [love is] what I respond to,” Lopez told Remezcla earlier this year when discussing her film Atlas. “Honestly, I think that’s the most important thing in life and in the world. And I think it’s the one thing that matters the most.”
Reaction to the news online was met with mixed reactions. Some used sarcasm to describe how “shocked” they were that the marriage didn’t last.
To the point they brought out the Golden Girls to express their shock.
Others were teasing that JLo and Ben Affleck “should get married again in 15 years just for the fun of it”
There were some hoping this meant a JLo and Marc Anthony reunion was on the horizon.
Some even pointed out This Is Me…Now and how Affleck played a pivotal part in the inspiration for the album and movie.
And the inevitable Pete Davidson meme came around.
But there were some that pointed out that if JLo was going to go out, she was going to do it with dramatic flair.
