As he faces off against El Paso politician Beto O’Rourke, Senator Ted Cruz has used “Tough as Texas” as his slogan for his re-election campaign. He revealed the campaign theme in April, but with a new ad, the Fire Ted Cruz PAC is now mocking the candidate for his slogan.
In the 30-second ad, the PAC zeroes in on something many have said before: After President Donald Trump said heinous comments about Cruz’s wife, Ted asked the POTUS for help in his re-election campaign. In the video – titled “Is Ted Cruz ‘Tough As Texas?’ – actor Sonny Carl Davis laughed when he said someone left something on his door that read that the senator was “as tough as Texas. ”
“I mean, come on,” Davis says. “If somebody called my wife a dog and said my daddy was in on the Kennedy assassination, I wouldn’t be kissing their ass. You stick a finger in their chest and give ’em a few choice words. Or you drag their ass out by the woodshed and kick their ass, Ted. Come on, Ted.”
