Not only is Bad Bunny currently on his Most Wanted Tour, but he’s also presenting at the 2024 Oscars ceremony next month. On February 29, 2024, the Academy Awards revealed that the Puerto Rican icon will join Latine greats like Rita Moreno and Lupita Nyong’o as this year’s presenters.

This year’s Oscars is bound to be a big one for Latines. Yesterday (February 28), Becky G announced that she is slated to perform at the prominent film award ceremony. The Mexican-American actress’ song “The Fire Inside” written by Diane Warren, is nominated for Best Original Song. She will join other performers like Billie Eilish, who’s singing “What Was I Made For?” and Ryan Gosling, who’s performing “I’m Just Ken.”

As far as Latine nominations go, Colman Domingo is up for Best Actor due to his civil rights activist role character in the biopic Rustin. This is Domingo’s first Oscar nominee – marking the awards’ first-ever Afro-Latino and first gay Latino to be nominated in the category. America Ferrera also received her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the blockbuster hit Barbie.

Other Latine nominees include David Hinojosa, who is of Puerto Rican and Mexican descent, for his work as a producer in Past Lives. This is Hinojosa’s first Oscar nomination and consequently the awards’ only second American producer with Latino roots to ever be nominated under the Best Picture category.

Mexican cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto was nominated for Best Cinematography for his work on the Martin Scorsese drama Killers of the Flower Moon. And Pablo Larraín’s black comedy El Conde landed a nomination for Cinematography as well.

Moreover, Cuban-American producer Phil Lord is nominated for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in the Best Animated Feature Category. Society of the Snow, which has Latine cast members from Uruguay and Argentina, is also up for Best International Film and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Chile’s The Eternal Memory is also nominated for Best Feature Documentary.

Other non-Latine presenters added to the award ceremony include Chris Hemsworth, Dwayne Johnson, and Michael Keaton.

The 96th Academy Awards broadcast live on March 10, 2024, via ABC.
