The third season of The Umbrella Academy was just released on Netflix earlier this week, and the most hardcore fans have already binged-watched all ten episodes. If you haven’t had the chance to watch any of the seasons yet, Diego Hargreeves (David Castañeda) currently stands as one of the most interesting characters in the series.

Diego is a rebellious member of the superhero team known as the Umbrella Academy, which consists of a group of seven of 43 people unexplainably born on the same day and at the same time in 1989.

Also known as Number Two, Diego has the power to manipulate knives and bullets. And he and his superpowered siblings come together to save the world… or cause enough trouble in the first place to start these cataclysmic events. Castañeda told People magazine recently that he hopes they get to shoot a fourth season so that they can explore that major change to the characters.

“I honestly really do like the fact that we don’t have powers because The Umbrella Academy was never really about the powers,” he said. “The power was just a little seasoning to [the show], [this season] has de-escalated, and it’s become much more about, ‘Let’s just watch these people that we really love bantering with each other.’”

If you think Castañeda looks familiar, the Mexican American actor guest-starred in three episodes during the first season of the romantic dramedy series Jane the Virgin.

At the start of his career, Castañeda was featured in a small role on episodes of TV shows like Lie to Me and Southland. He then landed a seven-episode turn on the series Switched at Birth.

Castañeda has been cast in movies, too, like SoldadoEl ChicanoThe Tax Collector, and The Guilty. Later this year, he will star in the new mystery-drama TV series Poker Face for Peacock.
