Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth Returning to Theaters for 20th Anniversary

It’s Guillermo del Toro’s world, we’re just living in it. Fresh off the success of the movie the renowned director always wanted to make, Frankenstein, the movie that catapulted him into stardom, is getting a re-release in theaters. That’s right, Pan’s Labyrinth is turning 20 and being celebrated on the big screen.
Deadline reported that Fathom Entertainment and Cineverse are re-releasing the Oscar-winning movie, with a nationwide release date set for October 9. The movie is set to be presented for the first time in 4K, and with versions available in both 3D and HDR by Barco.
“Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth is a modern-day cinematic masterpiece wonderfully suited for audiences to rediscover on the big screen. Even better, thanks to our partners at Cineverse and in celebration of its 20th anniversary, we are presenting Pan’s Labyrinth with premium large format (PLF) viewing options – including 3D – for the ultimate, must-see cinematic experience,” said Ray Nutt, Chief Executive Officer for Fathom Entertainment.
Pan’s Labyrinth won Oscars for Best Makeup, Cinematography, and Art Direction.
And for those who have never watched, the description for the movie reads, “As fascist forces tighten their grip following the Spanish Civil War, young Ofelia (Ivana Baquero) is uprooted to a remote military outpost commanded by her cruel stepfather (Sergi López). Amid the brutality of war, Ofelia discovers a hidden labyrinth and encounters a mysterious faun who claims she is a lost princess. To reclaim her throne, she must complete three dangerous tasks that test her courage and spirit. As reality and fantasy intertwine, Ofelia’s journey becomes a powerful exploration of innocence, resistance, and the enduring power of imagination in the face of unimaginable darkness.”
