There’s good news for fans of the Mexican remake of The Office, the beloved series will return for more hijinks. La Oficina has officially been renewed for a second season.

Following the success of the British, U.S., and Chilean adaptations of The Office, Mexico finally got an iteration of its own this year. La Oficina is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Máquina Vega. The first season of the series debuted to rave reviews on Prime Video on March 13.

La Oficina takes place at the fictional office of the soap company Jabones Olimpo in Aguascalientes. Fernando Bonilla stars as Jerónimo Ponce III, the Michael Scott-like regional manager of the company. Lesser known actors, who are having their breakout moments on La Oficina, play the rest of the kooky office staff.

Though the first season of La Oficina started streaming last month, Variety has confirmed that the series has already been greenlit for a second season.

La Oficina really broke through in Mexico in a way that felt immediate and sustained,” Javiera Balmaceda, the head of local originals for Amazon MGM Studios in Latin America, Canada and Australia, told the outlet. “It quickly became our most-watched title on Prime Video locally and, more importantly, it stuck — audiences keep discovering it and talking about it well after launch.”

Though there’s no date yet for when to expect the second season of La Oficina, showrunner Marcos Bucay has teased what’s in store for the Jabones Olimpo office staff. “Everything gets stranger, and somehow more relatable,” he said. “We expand the world, answer the chaos we left behind, and introduce new characters who stir things up.”
