For the first time in herstory of Drag Race España, two Latina drag queens are competing for the crown.

Drag Race España is a spin-off of RuPaul’s Drag Race in Spain. As of right now, it’s the only active Drag Race franchise that’s filmed in Spanish. Each of the first two seasons had one Latina drag queen in the cast. Season one included Inti who was of Indigenous descent from Bolivia. Season two featured Diamante Merybrown who hailed from the Dominican Republic. Both drag queens had resettled in Spain before being cast on the show.

Season three includes two Latina drag queens vying for the title of Spain’s Next Drag Superstar, Visa and Maria Edilia.

Visa was born in Mexico but now lives in Barcelona. She is the second-ever Mexican-born drag queen to compete in any of the Drag Race franchises. Last year, Lolita Banana became the first Mexican drag queen to appear in a franchise when she competed on Drag Race France. In her Meet the Queens video, Visa is wearing Dia de Muertos-inspired makeup and uses plenty of Mexican slang in her speech.

“I’ve come to ‘Drag Race España’ to give visibility to all the immigrants, the ones who roam the world, and who love this country today,” Visa says. “Beware, b*tches, the Aztec goddess is here!”

Maria Edilia was born in Venezuela, but now she lives in Madrid. She is making herstory as the first ever Venezuelan-born drag queen to compete in the Drag Race franchise. In her Meet the Queens intro, Edilia portrays a stewardess on the host Supremme De Luxe’s spaceship. During her speech, she calls herself the “telenovela villain” in the cast.

“I’ve come to fulfill a dream,” Edilia says. “To show that everything’s possible in life, to be the first plus-sized queen to win this wonderful crown, and to show myself that it’s never too late to keep going. Drag is limitless.”

The third season of Drag Race España will start streaming on WOW Presents Plus everywhere outside of Spain on April 16. Supremme De Luxe will return with her co-judges Javier Calvo, Javier Ambrossi, and Ana Locking.
