  • Isabella Gomez (TV’s One Day at a Time) will star in a reboot of the 1980s sitcom Head of the Class. Gomez will play Alicia Adams, the teacher in the classroom-set comedy who wants her students to focus more on experiencing life and less about their GPAs. [The Wrap]
  • Venezuelan-Canadian transgender actress Mareya Salazar is joining the cast of Charmed, which was rebooted in 2018. Salazar will play Joséfina, a second cousin to the three main sister characters, Mel (Melonie Diaz), Maggie (Sarah Jeffery) and Macy (Madeleine Mantock). [Deadline]
  • The cast is coming together for Eugenio Derbez’s bilingual comedy series Acapulco, which was inspired by the 2017 film How to Be a Latin Lover. Actors who have been added to the roster include Enrique Arrizon (April’s Daughter), Damian Alcázar (TV’s Narcos), Camila Pérez (TV’s Gotham) and Raphael Alejandro (How to Be a Latin Lover).   • Director Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings) has been tapped by Paramount to develop a new Transformers movie, which is said to be separate from the main franchise. This week, it was also announced that Anthony Ramos (In the Heights) would be starring in a seventh installment of the Transformers main franchise. [Deadline]
  • Christina Ochoa (TV’s Animal Kingdom) will star in a major role for the upcoming drama Promise Land on ABC. The series is about two powerful Latinx families living in Sonoma Valley. Ochoa will play Veronica Sandoval, the eldest daughter of one of the families. [Variety]
  • Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go for It, a documentary on the EGOT winner’s life and career, has been picked up by Roadside Attractions. It will be released at theaters on June 18. [The Hollywood Reporter]
