Club Necaxa is getting the Wrexham A.F.C. treatment. And the same people who made the docuseries following the club and community are involved in this project, too. Necaxa, a new docuseries from the producers of Welcome to Wrexham, is set to premiere August 7th with episodes airing on FXX at 9 PM ET/PT on Thursdays and available the next day on Hulu. This series will also be available internationally on Disney+. This includes Mexico, where Club Necaxa is from.
Necaxa will premiere two episodes each Thursday for the first three weeks, in a typical bid to gain a fanbase, followed by one episode each Thursday until the season finale on Thursday, September 18.
Necaxa examines the line between the sport and the people who support it, all while also giving fans an inside look at a team that has navigated financial instability for decades, and has had to go through relocation and near-constant reinvention.
The bilingual docuseries will take fans behind the scenes of a turbulent time for a team that was once one of Mexico’s powerhouses. Just as Welcome to Wrexham, the show will chronicle not just the players, but the fans—the ones who believe, and the ones who don’t, as well as the city of Aguascalientes, Mexico. Can the team rise to the levels of magic it once achieved? Will the fans continue to cheer for the “Rayos” or are they at the point of giving up?

Nexaca is executive-produced by a large group of people, including co-owners Eva Longoria and Rob Mac (formerly Rob Mcelhenney) and Ryan Reynolds, owners of Wrexham AFC, who have managed the almost unthinkable feat of seeing the team promoted three straight years, with Wrexham now one promotion away from the highest division in English professional football. Now, fans are hoping this docuseries can bring Necaxa back to its former glory.
