Nearly a week after Aubrey Plaza took center stage to host Saturday Night Live, another talented Latine will also make their debut on the long-running comedy sketch show: Pedro Pascal.
On Thursday (January 26), SNL announced that Pascal will host the show on February 4, 2023. Joining Pascal as the episode’s musical guest will be Coldplay.
Currently, Pascal can be seen on the HBO post-apocalyptic thriller The Last of Us, but if you’re familiar with his work, you’ll know how funny the actor can be when put in the right situations. Last summer, Remezcla even suggested Pascal host SNL this season. If you haven’t seen The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent alongside Nicolas Cage or his hammy take on a superhero villain in Wonder Woman 1984, what are you waiting for?
“Pascal could be scheduled for a date in February 2023 when the third season of The Mandalorian…premieres,” Remezcla wrote.
Now that we know he’s booked, we’re guessing writers are huddling together to write a sketch based on Mando and Grogu, so they can get the legions of Star Wars fans to tune in to the series. We’re going to suggest new SNL cast member Marcello Hernandez to get tapped to play Mando’s tiny Jedi sidekick. We think he would look good in green.
Fans of Pascal were quick to jump online to voice their excitement about his upcoming hosting duties. “Live from New York… THIS IS THE WAY,” one Twitter user posted, a reference to the Mandalorian’s famous catchphrase.
Another user on social media made sure to remind everyone that “It’s Pedro’s world, and we’re just living in it.” We tend to agree.
Here’s hoping BFF Oscar Isaac joins Pedro Pascal for a cameo in a sketch or just to hold his hand during his opening monologue.
