Since being acquired by Disney in 2012, Star Wars has made massive strides on the big and small screen. With five movies and a multitude of TV shows released on the Disney+ streaming service, it seemed like there were no surprises left. However, Star Wars revealed one more with the upcoming movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu. But how does Pedro Pascal fit into this?

The Mandalorian is a series that explores a unique character new to the Star Wars universe, a bounty hunter named Din Djarin, who grew a connection with a young alien named Grogu, initially named Baby Yoda by the fans. Through this duo, audiences explored new corners of the galaxy and encountered characters like Luke Skywalker.

When the film was announced, fans voiced their concern over the idea of Pascal not reprising his role, with users worrying about not even seeing Pascal’s face. Others were worried that Pascal’s character would be replaced, with other names like Bo-Katan Kryze being viable options for this movie version.

In 2022, Pascal also stated, “I love going to the movies. Going back and just being able to be with an audience again is one of the most important things to me. If that happens with The Mandalorian, all I can say is… please!”

Fans fears were laid to rest during Star Wars Celebration 2025, where first footage of The Mandalorian and Grogu premiered, confirming that Pascal and Sigourney Weaver would be in the Jon Favreau directed film. But it wasn’t until today, Monday, September 22nd that the general pubic got to see the first look at the film.

And while we didn’t get to see Pascal’s face in the first official trailer, we do get to hear his voice at the :53 second mark alongside a lot of familiar and iconic Star Wars aliens and more. Also, there’s plenty of Grogu.

The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters May 22, 2026.
