There’s been a slight change of plans for the release of the third season of The Mandalorian. Although it was reported earlier this year that season 3 would premiere in February 2023, Disney+ announced on Thursday (December 1) that the new season would debut a month later – March 1, 2023, to be exact.

“The Mandalorian and Grogu return March 1 only on [Disney+],” read the official Disney+ Twitter account.

This past September, Disney+ released a teaser trailer for season 3 at the D23 Expo that described Mando and Grogu as a “clan of two.” It is explained that Mando “is a Mandalorian no more” because he removed his helmet and revealed his face. To reclaim his warrior status, he must visit the “living waters” of the planet Mandalore.

The Mandalorian season 3 comes after the events of the first season of The Book of Boba Fett, which ended earlier this year and featured Mandalorian lead actor Pedro Pascal in a guest role. Boba Fett ended its debut season with Mando and Grogu, leaving to take on a new adventure.

Now that there is an official release date, The Mandalorian fans are beyond excited. Still, some did the math and realized that season 3 was still three months away. It’ll probably go by fast, but not if you’re a Star Wars aficionado and just finished watching Andor

“March?!?! Way too long,” one Twitter user wrote.

There were plenty of fans, however, that displayed their enthusiasm with Grogu gifs and memes.

It’s crazy when you realize that season 2 ended two years ago this month. Fans have been counting down the days until they could reunite with their favorite characters. “Man I missed, Mando,” another Twitter user commented.

According to Variety, Carl Weathers, who plays bounty hunter Greef Karga, is directing an episode of the upcoming season.
