Cristina Saralegui made a triumphant return to TV last night (June 23). At the request of Karol G, the Cuban-American host revived El show de Cristina for a special one-off interview.

Over the weekend, Saralegui revealed that she came out of retirement because Karol G wanted to be interviewed by her. Univision aired the special “El Show de Cristina Presents Karol G,” which marked the return of her iconic talk show for the first time in 14 years. “Don’t touch that dial,” Saralegui said. “Don’t adjust your television set. You’re not mistaken. This is ‘El Show de Cristina.'”

During her interview with Saralegui, Karol G mentioned why she wanted to be a guest on her talk show, which aired its last episode on November 1, 2010. “I have a very special dream,” she told the 77-year journalist. “I grew up watching your interviews. They were a huge window for many Latin artists around the world. If there’s going to a first interview for my album, it has to be on ‘El Show de Cristina.'”

Karol G watched a few clips of Saralegui’s past interviews with artists like Selena Quintanilla, Celia Cruz, and Gloria Estefan. Karol G called Selena’s adorable mistake on the show of saying “dieci-cuatro” an “iconic moment.” She also cited the three music legends as inspirations and artists that she aspires to be like.

Aside from talking with Karol G about her latest album TROPICOQUETA, Saralegui also dug a bit into her personal life. When asked if she would like to be a mother someday, the Colombian star said yes, but in a very far-off future. “With the work I’ve done all my life, I owe myself things,” Karol G said. “There’s things I owe myself that I want to do and I want to happen before dedicating myself 100 percent to something else. I’m taking it slow.”

Karol G released her TROPICOQUETA album last Friday. The LP includes collaborations with Marco Antonio Solís, Manu Chao, Eddy Lover, and her boyfriend Feid.
