“What would happen if you opened that cabinet for the world to see?” It’s a question Netflix is asking viewers to ponder with the release of its official trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming horror anthology series Cabinet of Curiosities. Chances are, if the cabinet belongs to del Toro, there will be plenty of creepy things hiding in the shadows, so watch out.

Earlier this summer, Netflix released a teaser trailer and some first-look footage of the series, which is described as “a collection of unprecedented and genre-defining stories that will challenge our traditional notions of horror.” In the latter, del Toro implored viewers to consider “the world…beautiful and horrible at exactly the same time.”

Now, we’re getting a more detailed look at the star-studded cast before the series premieres next month before Halloween. The cast includes Andrew Lincoln (The Walking Dead), Rupert Grint (Harry Potter franchise) and Ben Barnes (Shadow and Bone). Latine talent in the series are Ismael Cruz Córdova (The Rings of Power) and Elpidia Carrillo (Predator), whose episode, Lot 36, is directed by Guillermo Navarro (Narcos).

The latest trailer begins with del Toro asking viewers to “picture your mind as a cabinet where you lock up your darkest thoughts and deepest fears.” If you’re brave enough to continue watching, it then leads souls inside a dark cauldron of frightening imagery that includes a severed head covered in tentacles, a man being nailed into a wooden coffin, and “a forest that takes the dead inside.”

Who knows what other diabolical things del Toro and his team of eight filmmakers have in store for us, but you can be sure the series will trigger plenty of sleepless nights.

Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities premieres on Netflix on October 25, 2022.
