George Lopez (No Man’s Land) is back on TV with a new eponymous sitcom on NBC. Lopez vs. Lopez pits the popular comic against his real-life daughter, Mayan Lopez in what NBC describes as “a working-class family comedy about dysfunction, reconnection, and all the pain and joy in between.”

In the first 30-second preview, Lopez explains to his daughter how he was raised. “My nana used to say, there’s the right way and then there’s the Lopez way,” Lopez says. “Then she would take her chancla off and throw it at you and hit you.”

In the pilot episode, we learn that daddy Lopez is helping his daughter remodel her kitchen but is taking his time doing it. He later asks her if he can stay with her, so he doesn’t have to drive back and forth to finish the job. His daughter is not sure she likes the idea.

“You come here, you do stuff for me, we laugh and then you go home,” she tells her dad. “I love that last part.”

Viewers are also introduced to Mayan’s mother and George’s ex-wife Rosie, played by actress Selenis Leyva (Orange is the New Black). When Lopez asks her why she always wants to make things awkward, she responds by telling him that if she wanted to make him feel awkward, she would show everyone his “late-night texts asking, ‘You up?’”

George Lopez is also serving as an executive producer on the show, and Mayan Lopez is a producer. Along with the two Lopezes and Leyva, the cast includes Brice Gonzalez (TikTok’s EnkyBoys), Matt Shively (Father of the Year), Al Madrigal (The Daily Show with Trevor Noah), Laci Mosley (iCarly), and Kiran Deol (The Jury).

Lopez vs. Lopez premieres on NBC November 4, 2022, at 8 p.m. EST. Episodes will be available to stream the following day on Peacock.
