It’s officially Capricorn season! In this new monthly listicle, we are celebrating each zodiac sign’s Latine stars with their hits. Often described as assertive, innovative, and analytic and spanning from Dec. 22 to Jan. 19, we’re starting with the first Earth sign of the year — Capricorn. But did you know that many Latine artists share this same zodiac sign? You might be surprised to see who shares the same traits and ambitions based on their birthdate!

One of the most proud Capricorn artists is Puerto Rican star Rauw Alejandro. In his last press cycle for his album SATURNO, he connected the album’s inspiration to his zodiac sign’s planet. “Saturn is the planet of Capricorns, and it’s also the planet of melancholy and nostalgia,” he said in an interview about his album. “They even say it’s a planet that represents hard work, ambition, consistency, sacrifice. And that’s something that I identify with.”

Rauw’s not wrong. The aforementioned characteristics often represent many of the other hard-working Capricorns we’re highlighting today, such as the Mexican singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel, Argentinean-Spanish singer Nathy Peluso, and Dominican-American rapper Ice Spice. Undoubtedly, each artist has put in the work to become the talented, multi-faceted artists they are today. I mean, look at El Divo de Juárez’s legacy; the icon is still popular today.

So how about we keep celebrating their greatness? From Rauw Alejandro’s sexy collaboration “Qué Pasaría…” to Ice Spice’s most recent track “Popa,” here are seven songs that commemorate these music masterminds on their birthday month.

And for any Cap reading this: Happy birthday!

Rauw Alejandro, Bad Bunny – “Qué Pasaría…”

Born on Jan. 10, 1993, Rauw Alejandro is one of the Capricorns of the moment. He made his musical comeback recently by dropping Cosa Nuestra, one of the most highly-anticipated albums of 2024. The 18-track album spans genres such as salsa, reggaeton, bachata, funky pop, and more. It also highlights a range of artists, from heavy hitters like Romeo Santos, Laura Pausini, and Pharrell to skyrocketing talent like LATIN MAFIA. However, one of the album’s fan-favorite tracks is the perreo-ready collaboration “Qué Pasaría…” featuring fellow Puerto Rican icon Bad Bunny. After the album’s release, the two boricua heartthrobs performed the song live during Rauw’s home release party for the first time, and let’s just say the album was worth the wait.

Ricky Martin – “Ácido Sabor”

Did you know Ricky Martin is a Capricorn? Born on Dec. 24, 1971, the Noche Buena baby is part of today’s highlights. It feels like we have known the Puerto Rican artist for decades, with hits like “Livin’ La Vida Loca,” “La Copa De La Vida,” and “Te Extraño, Te Olvido, Te Amo.” But he has more recent popular songs in his repertoire. Some of his recent tracks include his sultry bop “Ácido Sabor” from his latest EP, Play (2022). Other features in this EP include Colombian singer Keityn and Mexican pop group Reik. Moreover, another recently released track is “Fuego de Noche, Nieve de Día,” which he remade last year with Christian Nodal, another Cap singer.

Christian Nodal – “La Bachatita”

The Mexican crooner, born on Jan. 11, 1999, is celebrating his 26th birthday in 2025. Though this year he was in the media headlines due to his new relationship, Nodal is primarily known for his popular hits like his groundbreaking single “Adiós Amor,” “Botella Tras Botella” alongside Gera MX, and “Dime Cómo Quieres” with his now-wife Ángela Aguilar. However, he’s still making innovative music, such as “La Bachatita,” an emotional song that intertwines traditional elements of mariachi and bachata. “La Bachatita” is part of his recent PA’L CORA EP. 01, released in August. This EP also included his flirty collaboration with Estevie.

Nathy Peluso, Tokischa – “DE MARAVISHA”

Peluso, born on Jan. 12, 1995, will be celebrating her 30th birthday in 2025. The Argentinean-Spanish artist recently released her newest collaboration “DE MARAVISHA” with Dominican rapper Tokischa. In this Skrillex-produced track, the two Latinas blend rap and perreo elements into one captivating song. The joint track comes right in time to continue anticipating Peluso’s stateside Grasa Tour that will kick off in Mar. 2025. It will make stops in selected U.S. cities, including Miami, Brooklyn, and Los Angeles. Peluso’s GRASA album was released earlier this year (May 24). Album hits include “TODO ROTO” with CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, “APRENDER A AMAR,” and “El Día Que Me Perdí” featuring Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes.

Ana Bárbara – “Vete”

Born on Jan. 10, 1971, Ana Bárbara is another Capricorn who has given us timeless Regional Mexican bops. With a musical trajectory that spans over three decades, it’s common to have heard her voice on mainstream radio. Known as La Reina Grupera” (The Grupera Queen), she started her musical career in 1994 with her self-titled debut album. Since then, she’s had multiple hits such as “Bandido,” “Lo Busqué,” “La Trampa,” and “Fruta Prohibida.” Most recently, her newest single “Vete” features her signature vocals on a mariachi ballad about a hard breakup. Though written by Ana Bárbara, “Vete” was first released by Mexican singer María José in 2012.

Juan Gabriel – “Have You Ever Seen The Rain? (Gracias al Sol)”

It’s hard to keep it short when it comes to talking about Juanga’s hits. Born on Jan. 7, 1950, the Mexican icon would’ve been 74 years old today. Known for his massive hits like “Querida,” “Abrázame Muy Fuerte,” “Hasta Que Te Conocí,” and so forth, the music phenomenon has an impressive catalog to choose from. For this feature, we chose “Have You Ever Seen The Rain? (Gracias al Sol),” which serves as an example of how music transcends languages. This cover was part of Quiero Creedence (2016), a Latine tribute album to Creedence Clearwater Revival. The album also features other Latine greats like Los Lobos, El Tri, and Los Enanitos Verdes.

Ice Spice – “Popa”

One of the youngest Capricorn artists is Ice Spice, born on New Year’s Day in 2000. The Bronx-born half-Dominican rapper skyrocketed to fame after her breakthrough feature “Boy’s a liar Pt. 2” with PinkPantheress. Since then, she’s delivered hits like “Deli,” “Princess Diana” with Nicki Minaj, and “Did It First” with Central Cee. She paves her own niche in the music scene by offering short drill songs with risqué and cocky lyrics. One of her newest songs is “Popa,” written by herself, Daniel Mohammadi, Javier Mercado, and longtime collaborator RIOTUSA. The baddie bass-heavy anthem is part of Ice’s debut album Y2K!, released earlier this year.
