It’s almost that spooky time of the year again! Halloween is finally around the corner. Who else is counting down the days to dress up as an iconic pop figure? Why not take it up a notch and make your costume an iconic moment from music videos from the aughts? We can do spooky and horror next year because it’s all about nostalgia for the 2000s right now.

We’ve already have you covered with Latino and Latina superhero ideas, but for music lovers, we’re here to take your record-loving enthusiasm to the next level. This goes out to the music heads who have tickets to the hottest tours and already know the setlists by heart. We’re talking about the music aficionados that hog the aux cord and play the perfect music video playlist to soundtrack your get-togethers. Does that sound like you?

Across the years, we’ve seen plenty of people dressed up as Shakira with their purple wig, skirt, and tie outfit echoing her “Las de la Intuición” music video, and we also love seeing Stripped-album and music video costumes giving ode to one of Christina Aguilera’s most emblematic (and daring) eras. But there are far more fun costumes in the same vein that can be DIY-ed and put together to show your love for Halloween and Latine and Spanish popstars – and we’re here to help you out with ideas to spark that creativity.

From Mexican alternative rock singer Julieta Venegas’ iconic wedding dress outfit to Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias’ casual look, here are seven unique looks for dressing up as your favorite moment from 2000s music videos.

Julieta Venegas - “Andar Conmigo”

One of my favorite records and album covers is Venegas’ third album . This LP contains hits like “Andar Conmigo,” “Lento,” and “Algo Esta Cambiando.” On the album cover, Venegas is dressed in a wedding gown. The lead single “Andar Comigo” follows the same theme, showing the Mexican-American alternative pop rockera dressed as if she was making a pit stop at a bar saloon before heading to a wedding chapel, all while singing the track that remains one of Mexico’s most popular today. You can mimic Venegas’ “Andar Conmigo” style by thrifting a simple wedding gown, putting on white gloves, a bridal veil, and long earrings. Make it more iconic by taking a portrait with a pink background and recreating the album cover.

Calle 13 - “Atrévete-Te-Te”

Puerto Rican alternative hip-hop group Calle 13’s Residente is known for his muscle shirt and jeans look. If you Google his name, he will most likely show up wearing a muscle shirt. Such is the case in the music video of “Atrévete-Te-Te,” where he wears a grey muscle shirt and jeans paired with a beaded necklace, which echoes his signature bad-boy look. Looking for a quick, maybe last-minute Halloween costume? With a muscle shirt and a beaded necklace, you can recreate this “Atrévete-Te-Te” outfit and rap the lyrics to your friends on Halloween. Take it to the next level by making it a couple costume with your partner dressed up as the all-white outfit dancer in the music video.

Paulina Rubio - “Ni Una Sola Palabra”

Mexican pop star Paulina Rubio left a mark with her golden superhero look in her “Ni Una Sola Palabra” music video. You can replicate her epic look with a golden cape, boots, a golden onesie, a belt, and superhero cuffs. Take it a step further by wearing a long, curly, blonde wig if your hair doesn’t match her signature luscious locks. How’s that for woman empowerment? Move aside Wonder Woman, “La Chica Dorada” is here to kick ass – and look good while doing it. “Ni Una Sola Palabra” is part of Rubio’s album Ananda, released in 2006.

Wisin y Yandel - “Me Estás Tentando”

For those looking for couple or duo costumes, we’ve got you covered. Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Wisin y Yandel are not only known for their popular tracks like “Noche de Sexo,” “Rakata,” and “Me Estás Tentando,” but also their matching cargo-like looks. A duo costume idea can be dressing up like the guys by wearing their signature sunglasses paired with a black leather sleeveless jacket (Wisin) and sleeved jacket (Yandel). Elevate the look with thick chains and fake (or real) tattoo sleeves to mirror the duo’s accessories. Make it more memorable by singing one of their hits on Halloween. We recommend dressing up like them and doing karaoke to their hit “Me Estás Tentando,” released in 2008.

Nina Sky - “Move Ya Body (feat. Jabba)”

“Can you feel the beat?” Puerto Rican duo and twins Nicole and Natalie Albino knew what they were doing with their classic reggaeton hit “Move Ya Body.” Released in 2004, the music video features the twins wearing colorful outfits and striped prints. You can emulate the looks this Halloween by wearing thick, colorful hoop earrings, bright pop-of-color sleeveless shirts with a white undershirt, and a colorful short skirt. You can even throw on a trucker cap, accentuating the mid-aughts flair. What makes their outfits synonymous with the era is the thick neon hoops and white undershirts that, for some reason or another, were go-to accessories during that nightclub era.

Belanova - “One, Two, Three, GO!”

Let’s be real: Belanova’s vocalist Denisse Guerrero continuously serves iconic looks on and off the stage. And now that the band is back in action, why not celebrate their music by dressing up like the frontwoman? One of Guerrero’s most memorable looks is from the “One, Two, Three, GO!” music video, where she’s dressed as a cheerleader. Mimic the look by wearing a red choker with star figures, a red dress, a light blue belt, and thigh-high yellow boots. The icing on top? Pom poms and a high ponytail. And there you have it, a Guerrero-inspired Halloween outfit for the fans who want to go beyond “Rosa Pastel.”

Enrique Iglesias - “Hero”

The Spanish singer has always had a distinctive casual look. For example, he’s been known to wear his signature beanie or a cap, and back in the early 00s, he also had a face mole. Some media outlets even called his mole a “facial trademark,” but alas, he decided to take it off because it could’ve led him to cancer. His iconic wardrobe style remains, which often includes a beanie or cap paired with a simple T-shirt or V-neck. This makes for a simple DIY Halloween look – and if you want to go the full mile, might as well include his trademark mole.
