Cardi B has already caught the attention of senators and pundits with her takedowns about the Trump administration, and now she’s turning the heads of even more politicians: Polk County Democrats in Des Moines, Iowa. Local newspaper Des Moines Register reports that local Dems initially extended Cardi an invite to speak at one of their receptions while she is in town for her Invasion of Privacy tour in May. They’ve since offered her a more formal invitation via local media.

“We are definitely serious about this,” Polk County Democrats chair Sean Bagniewski told the Register. “She speaks to the new activism in the Democratic Party…Stranger things have happened. It’s a long shot, but a little bit of her presence would go a long way,” he added.

On Twitter, Cardi B responded to the invite indirectly, asking her followers, “Should I?”

In mid-January, the Bronx rapper denounced President Trump’s call for federal employees to return to work without pay during the government shutdown, saying, “Our country is in a hellhole right now. We really need to take this serious. I feel like we need to take some kind of action. I don’t know what type of action, bitch, because this is not what I do. Bitch, I’m scared. This is crazy and I really feel bad for these people who gotta go to fucking work to not get motherfucking paid.” The video sparked debate among congressmen, who spent plenty of time on Twitter trying to decide whether or not to retweet the expletive-laced video. Conservative commentators came for Cardi, but lucky for her, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez swooped in to remind them not to mess with Bronx women.

We’ll be waiting to see whether or not Cardi ends up chilling with the Iowa Dems soon.
