The woman behind one of the biggest songs of the year, Cardi B, will be honored at the 2020 Billboard Women in Music event. The “WAP” hitmaker will be honored as the Woman of the Year.
Since 2007, Billboard has hosted the annual Women in Music event to honor the ladies who have made a major impact to the industry. Cardi B will be following last year’s Woman of the Year honoree Billie Eillish. Thanks to monster success of “WAP,” the Dominican-American artist broke many records on Billboard with Megan Thee Stallion.

Among the chart achievements by “WAP” is the first all-female rap collaboration to debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s all-genre Hot 100 chart and Cardi became the first female rapper to top the chart in two different decades (the 2010s and 2020s). The song spent four non-consecutive weeks at the chart’s summit.

Another Latina will be honored at the event, Jennifer Lopez, who will receive the Icon Award. She made a splash at the top of the year as a Super Bowl halftime show co-headliner with Colombian pop star Shakira. Colombian-Canadian artist Jessie Reyez will receive the Impact Award.

Other honorees include British singer Dua Lipa, who will receive the Powerhouse Award. She collaborated with Tainy, J Balvin, and Bad Bunny on the genre-bending “Un Día (One Day).” Country music legend Dolly Parton will receive the Hitmaker award. Duo Chloe x Halle will receive the Rising Star Award. Brianna Agyemang and Jamila Thomas, the women behind the #TheShowMustBePaused movement, will receive the Executive of the Year Award.

The Women in Music event will be livestreamed on Billboard’s website on Dec. 10. Teyana Taylor will host the virtual ceremony.
