CNCO is the first act confirmed to perform at the 2023 Premios Juventud. Today (June 22), the Latine boy band announced that their performance in Puerto Rico would be a part of their farewell tour.
CNCO performing at Premios Juventud is a full-circle moment for the band. The awards are produced by Univision, where the guys first got their start. In 2015, the show La Banda aired on the network, where Erick Brian Colón, Richard Camacho, Christopher Vélez, Zabdiel De Jesús, and Joel Pimentel were placed in the group CNCO. Even though Pimentel left the band in 2021, they have carried on as a quartet with the La Última Cita Tour.
“After having been discovered in one of our most successful singing competitions, CNCO rose to fame and went on to become one of the most influential Latin pop bands of the last decade,” Ignacio Meyer, president of U.S. networks at TelevisaUnivision, said in a statement. “We’re honored to have been a part of their journey from the very beginning and are truly excited to see them take the PJ stage one last time for an epic farewell performance.”
CNCO also has a successful history with Premios Juventud. Throughout the band’s run, they have won six awards. This year, CNCO is nominated in three categories, including Favorite Group or Duo of the Year and Best Pop Album for their final album XOXO. The guys will perform their farewell single, “La Última Canción.”
“It’s crazy for us to be saying goodbye at PJ because the first time we performed in an awards show was at Premios Juventud,” CNCO added in a statement. “We recall that night we took home five awards. It was one of the most memorable nights of our career.”
Premios Juventud will air on Univision live from Puerto Rico on July 20. Bad Bunny, Peso Pluma, and Becky G are the most-nominated artists this year, with nine nods each.
