Could Shakira’s “Te Felicito” have been her tiraera to Gerard Piqué? From the song’s lyrics about an unfaithful lover that’s playing a part, the Colombian superstar’s fans seem to think so. A week after the couple’s separation came to light, “Te Felicito” has continued to surge in popularity.

Shakira originally released “Te Felicito” featuring Puerto Rican singer Rauw Alejandro back in April. In the song, she appeared to draw inspiration from Rihanna’s “Take a Bow” by comparing an ex-lover to an actor that’s playing a part. Throughout the reggaeton pop bop, she condescendingly congratulates the person for putting on a fake front in their relationship.

After a few days of rumors about their breakup, Shakira and Piqué confirmed their separation in a statement on June 4. The couple was together for 11 years and had two sons. With speculation that Piqué cheated on Shakira, fans are now thinking that “Te Felicito” could have been written about the FC Barcelona athlete.

On Twitter, fans had lots of opinions and theories to share. From analyzing the song’s lyrics closely to making edits of the song to even dragging all Aquariuses, fans took their shots at Piqué.

Fans even went as far as analyzing Shakira’s moves in the music video, saying her peace sign was a nod at Pique’s signature gesture to dedicate goals to her.

Whether or not the song is about Pique, “Te Felicito” has continued to grow into a hit, especially this past week. On Tuesday, the song cracked the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart at No. 88. On Billboard’s Global 200 chart, “Te Felicito” jumped 39 spots to a new peak at No. 16. On June 12, Shakira celebrated the music video hitting over 100 million views on YouTube. As of press time, the video now sits at over 126 million views.

The recent resurgence of “Te Felicito” could also be attributed to Shakira’s new show Dancing With Myself that’s now airing on NBC. She serves as a judge on the dance competition show alongside Nick Jonas and Liza Koshy.
