For the first time on the Billboard 200 chart, the top two albums are in Spanish. Bad Bunny and Fuerza Regida made history this week with their latest LPs. Moreover, the Mexican-American group has broken even more records for the música mexicana genre.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums in the U.S. across all genres. This week, the No. 1 and No. 2 LPs are both Spanish-language releases for the first time in the chart’s 69-year history. Bad Bunny’s DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS shot to the top of the chart for a fourth time after the album was released on vinyl. Fuerza Regida debuted at the No. 2 spot this week with their latest LP 111XPANTIA.

Not only did Bad Bunny and Fuerza Regida make history together, but the San Bernardino-based group also shattered a few more records on their own. The band led by Jesús Ortiz Paz (aka JOP) now holds the record for the highest-charting música mexicana album in the U.S. Peso Pluma previously held that record when Génesis debuted at No. 3 back in 2023.

Fuerza Regida now also holds the record for the highest-charting album by a Latine group. Maná set the previous record in 2006 when Amar Es Combatir debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart. Fuerza Regida’s 111XPANTIA sold 79,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. with 39,000 of that sum coming from pure album sales. The LP now holds the record for the most sales in a single week for a música mexicana album. In terms of equivalent album units, Fuerza Regida beat the previous record set by Peso Pluma’s Génesis. When talking about pure album sales, the group shattered a record set by Selena’s Amor Prohibido in 1995 following her death.

Fuerza Regida released 111XPANTIA on May 2. The album includes their recent hits “Peculiando” and “Caperuza.”
