Update 2/26: As a result of the death threat, which included a severed human head, Grupo Firme officially canceled their upcoming show in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico. The original show was scheduled for this Saturday (Mar. 1) as part of the Mazatlan Carnival.
The Mexican group and their record label, Music VIP Entertainment, posted a statement announcing the show’s cancelation on their Instagram stories today (Feb. 26). “We deeply regret to inform you that the performance of Grupo Firme on March 1st at the Mazatlan Carnival is canceled,” the official press release read. “For Music VIP the well-being of those who have accompanied us on this journey: our family, which is you, our fans, is and always will be the most important thing. We hope to be able to meet again soon to sing, celebrate, and continue making history together.”
The cancelation comes after the band received an alleged death threat from an undisclosed crime group in Tijuana, Baja California, yesterday (Feb. 25). Per El Sol de Tijuana, Baja California authorities subsequently announced they would provide added security where the group members frequent in the city.
Grupo Firme’s next show is set to be in Hermosillo, Sonora, on Apr. 4.

After celebrating Jhonny Caz’s birthday over the weekend, Grupo Firme received a death threat, which included a severed human head, allegedly from an organized crime group in Tijuana, Mexico, yesterday (Feb. 25). The unidentified organized crime group warned the Mexican band not to perform at their upcoming show in Mazatlan, Sinaloa. The show is scheduled for this Saturday (Mar. 1).
Per Mexican media outlets, a narco manta — or banner put up by cartels in public places with specific warnings or messages — appeared yesterday (Feb. 25). The narco manta was found on a bridge near the municipalities of Santa Fe and La Gloria in south Tijuana, near Playas de Rosarito. The alleged death threat read in Spanish: “Grupo Firme if you play at the Mazatlan Carnival we will kill you all, remember that you live in Tijuana, even the guy who puts the lights on, we will kill you all.”
According to reports, the threat was left with human remains in what appears to be an ice chest, including a severed male head. It is unknown which organized crime group left the message. Authorities are currently investigating the situation.

As of now, the show in Mazatlan is still happening. This show is slated to kick off their upcoming extended Mexican leg of “La Última Peda Tour.” “In the beautiful port of Mazatlan Sin. We kick off our tour ❤️,” the band announced online about a month ago.
This isn’t the first time an artist has received an alleged death threat in 2025. At the beginning of the year, Natanael Cano and other artists received alleged threats from the organized crime group Los Mata Salas, warning them not to support their rival cartel group, Los Salazar.
Moreover, over the past years, other música mexicana artists like Fuerza Regida and Peso Pluma have canceled shows over these types of alleged public death threats via narco mantas.
