Helado Negro’s year is nothing short of momentous. He toured with Beirut, completely reimagining his live show, and temporarily retired the famed Tinsel Mammals, who have been an integral part of his live identity for some time now. Then, he released This Is How You Smile – one of, if not the best album in his catalog, which we recently called “an instruction manual for Latinx self-care.”
And now, the “Young, Latin, and Proud” singer is set to embark on his biggest headlining tour to date – including shows in cities where he’s never commanded top billing. He recently took to Instagram to announce the tour, with a heartfelt and earnest message for fans. “This is my first headline tour in so many of these cities. Look below, do you see your city? Do you know someone in that city?” he wrote. “This touring biz is not easy on the body and mind and to see your beautiful faces is what makes it worth it.” he added.
Those who have seen an Helado Negro show know what an intimate and often cathartic experience it can be. And with the 22-date tour set to begin on May 5th, there’s there’s still time to cop tickets, although various dates have already sold out.
