Former President Barack Obama has released his summer 2024 playlist, and several Latine music acts made the cut. Among the artists on the list released today (Aug. 12) are Bad Bunny, Feid, Dei V, and more.
Obama has made a tradition to put a playlist of his favorite songs at the end of the summer and at the end of the year. Some Latine artists that appeared on last year’s summer playlist included reggaeton mexa star Yng Lvcas and Peso Pluma with the “La Bebe” remix, and Ice Spice’s “Princess Diana” remix with Nicki Minaj. Rauw Alejandro and Rosalía’s “Vampiros” also made the cut.
“With summer winding down, I wanted to share some songs that I’ve been listening to lately – and it wouldn’t be my playlist if it didn’t include an eclectic mix,” Obama shared in a post on X. “I hope you find something new to listen to!”
Multiple Latine artists appear on Obama’s 2024 summer playlist. The biggest Spanish-language hit on the playlist is “Perro Negro” by Bad Bunny and Feid. In one of the few reggaeton tracks on Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana album, the Puerto Rican superstar tapped into the culture of Feid’s hometown of Medellín, Colombia.
On that same album, Bad Bunny name-checked Dei V in his song “Vuelve Candy B.” Now, the rising Puerto Rican singer is getting another big co-sign from Obama. He included Dei V’s collaboration “Bad Boy” with Chris Jedi, Gaby Music, Anuel AA, and Ozuna on his summer playlist. Another Latine artist who made Obama’s summer playlist was Calimossa, the musical project of Tomás Pascali. Obama included his song “What’s In the Tea?”
Among the other big hits in his playlist are “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey, “365” by Charli XCX, and “Chihiro” by Billie Eilish. Obama also highlighted Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” and Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby.”
