Shakira shut down Times Square last night (Mar. 26) with a free concert in New York City. The Colombian pop icon performed songs from her new album, including “Cómo Dónde y Cuándo” for the first time.

Last Friday, Shakira released her first album in seven years, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran. The album is loaded with her hits from the past two years, like “Te Felicito” featuring Rauw Alejandro, “BZRP Music Sessions #53” with Bizarrap, and “TQG” with Karol G. On the LP, she also returned to her rockera roots in songs like “Cómo Dónde y Cuándo” and “Tiempo Sin Verte.” To celebrate putting out the new album, Shakira gave a surprise concert last night in Times Square.

During her recent interviews, Shakira has teased a world tour. While her fans wait for the tour date announcement, they got a little idea of what to expect with her pop-up concert. Over 40,000 people gathered to see Shakira perform at the TSX Stage. During the 15-minute set, Shakira performed songs from Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran. She first kicked off the concert with a classic, her 2006 smash “Hips Don’t Lie.” Then Shakira sang a solo version of “TQG” and her recent single “Puntería.” In full rockera mode, she brought out her guitar to perform “Cómo Dónde y Cuándo” live. The crowd went wild when she closed out the fierce concert with “BZRP Music Sessions #53.”

“What an insane experience!!” Shakira wrote in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) after the concert. “40,000 of you in Times Square. I have goosebumps! Thank you for such an amazing welcome and for coming to party with me NY!”

Earlier this week, Shakira performed “Puntería” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She also released a music video for her cumbia-norteña song “(Entre Paréntesis)” featuring Grupo Frontera.
