After releasing two songs together in 2022, J Balvin revealed that a joint album with Ed Sheeran is in the works. Though the Colombian star shared in a recent interview that he hopes the project will come out in 2024, social media users already have much to say about it.

In a recent conversation with Nylon, J Balvin talked about his upcoming EDM-inspired album expected to come out later this year. However, he also grabbed social media users’ attention by sharing that he’s also releasing a collaborative album alongside Sheeran. “It came about in an organic, natural way. We met; we had coffee; we’d run into each other at the same gym, at the hotel,” he told the online publication. “That’s going to be another album that will offer a lot to talk about, because it’s like merging two worlds.”

And he’s right. People are already talking about it. Social media users are anticipating the duo’s album. “J Balvin and Ed Sheeran on a collaborative album. It already smells like a Grammy without a doubt,” a Twitter user said. “More Ed singing in Spanish? Omg we will be streaming 😭,” another social media user commented.

Some social media users are surprised about the upcoming release. A Twitter user commented: “what do you mean j balvin and ed sheeran are going to release an album together 🧍‍♀️🧍‍♀️🧍‍♀️🧍‍♀️🧍‍♀️.”

Others are not too fond of the upcoming album. “What is Joe Biden’s plan to stop the J Balvin X Ed Sheeran joint album???” a Twitter user said. Another social media user commented: “J Balvin and Ed Sheeran is the worst possible combination.”

Regardless of reactions circulating the web, we’ll have to wait until 2024 to hear the album’s outcome. Before this upcoming project, J Balvin and Ed Sheeran released “Forever My Love” and “Sigue” in May 2022.

“I was in New York at Christmas for shows, so we decided to have one day in the studio that led to so so much more, which you’ll find out about soon,” the English singer-songwriter wrote at the time. “He wanted to bring me into his world, and I wanted to bring him into mine. Was a proper challenge learning Spanish for this and I had so much fun doing it.”
