In 2017, we got the first Selena for Sanctuary, a concert series to benefit immigrant rights. In 2019, we get another edition of the concert series – organized by Mija Management founder Doris Muñoz – which is still built around the same mission. And while we already knew that this year’s edition, which is part of Central Park’s celebrated Summerstage concert series, would include Cuco, Ambar Lucid, Jasper Bones, and DJ Svani Quintanilla, there were still some more acts to come. Recently, we learned that Kali Uchis would headline the event.

In a statement to Remezcla, Uchis said it was an honor to headline the event. “Creating safe spaces and bringing awareness to the issues immigrant communities are facing is the goal,” she said. “I can’t wait [to] celebrate our roots, our journeys, all while paying tribute to the inspiration icon Selena.”
