Kali Uchis is cutting ties with a controversial collaborator. Last night (Sept. 17), the Colombian-American singer revealed that she is taking down a song that she did d4vd, who has gotten involved in a murder investigation.
Kali Uchis collaborated with d4vd twice this past year. She featured on his song “Crashing,” released on his debut album Withered. d4vd later returned the favor and co-wrote the song “It’s Just Us” on Kali’ latest LP Sincerely,. Earlier this month, d4vd got entangled in an ongoing homicide investigation.
While d4vd was in the middle of a tour of the U.S., human remains were discovered inside an impounded Tesla that was registered to him. This week, the body was identified as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The young girl was reported missing from Lake Elsinore, CA, on April 5, 2024. On her right index finger, Hernandez had a “Shhh…” tattoo that’s similar to the one d4vd has on his finger. According to TMZ, the girl’s mother told the outlet that she said she was dating a person named “David” before her disappearance. d4vd is currently 20, and he is reportedly cooperating with the LAPD’s investigation of Hernandez’s murder.
The news of d4vd’s involvement with the murder of Rivas Hernandez has reached Kali Uchis. In a comment on one of her Instagram posts, a person wrote, “Your friend ddvd [sic] is a murder[er] and chomo smh.” She responded by saying that she is trying to remove a song that she did with d4vd from streaming platforms. “Not my friend i did a song with him which is currently in the process of being taken down given todays disturbing news,” the singer wrote.

Kali didn’t specify if she was going to have “Crashing” or “It’s Just Us” taken down. As of press time, both songs can still be streamed on Spotify.
