Today (Oct. 27), Kenia Os finally released her new album, K23. The Mexican pop star also premiered the music video for her newest single, “Flores.”
K23 marks Kenia’s second new album this year, following her debut Cambios de Luna back in March. Once again, she’s singing alone without any featured artists across the 12 tracks. Os says the LP reflects a new era in her music career. “I had just released Cambios de Luna and they suggested I make an album from scratch,” the singer and entrepeneur said in a statement. “It was a very big challenge, but there was no way to back down. I have always believed that we all have different universes within us and I thought that there was something in me that I had not explored. Then K23 came about and from there the idea of the album, the songs, the design and everything began to come out.”
Kenia first teased the K23 universe with the frenetic “Mía Mía” earlier this month. She continues to let fans into her futuristic world in the music video for “Flores.” Kenia dials it back to the sound of ‘90s house music in the breakup banger. The melody is reminiscent of Amber’s 1996 classic “This Is The Night.” Kenia sings about moving on and hitting the dance floor. “From this night on, I don’t want anymore flowers / I don’t want to hear anymore love songs / I want a drink / That will be better,” she croons in Spanish.
In the past year, Kenia has shifted her career from social media influencer to bonafide pop star. She has grown her empire to include Latin pop bops that keep her millions of followers moving.
“I felt like I’ve never changed,” Kenia told Remezcla in August. “That I’ve simply been unlocking other levels of my career. I’ve viewed my career as Kenia Os as how far can I take this, how far can I go with this, what is the next level? I believe as a content creator that’s the first level where I grew, where I first received the love and support, and now I’m at this second level, entering the singing world.”
Os will be touring the U.S. for the first time next year on her K23 Tour. The kicks off in San Diego on Feb. 22. Tickets for the tour are on sale now.
