The numbers are in for the biggest artists and songs on TikTok this past year. Yesterday (Dec. 6), the popular video platform revealed that Latine music dominated thanks to Mexican singer Kim Loaiza and Bad Bunny.

TikTok released multiple lists showing the growth of music from around the world on their platform in 2022, and a Mexican singer was the most-viewed artist on TikTok globally. Coming in at the top spot, Loaiza has over 4.4 billion followers on TikTok. As an influencer, Loaiza translated her large social media following into a music career. Her biggest hits include “Mejor Sola” with Zion y Lennox and “Después De La 12” with Ovi. Grupo Firme’s Eduin Caz and Chilean rapper Pailita jumped on the “12” remix earlier this year. Loaiza is also known for her falling out with fellow Mexican influencer Kenia OS.

Among the most-viewed artists, Mont Pantoja, another Mexican singer from Sinaloa, came in at No. 3. Among the Latine acts, they are followed by Mont’s cousin and Loaiza’s partner, JD Pantoja, at No. 4. Surprisingly, Bad Bunny came in at No. 7 thanks to the success of his Un Verano Sin Ti album. Spanish pop star Rosalía was No. 9 after her big year with the MOTOMAMI.

Over on the top tracks of 2022 on TikTok, Demi Lovato appeared at No. 5 with a sped-up version of “Cool For the Summer.” Bad Bunny and Chencho Corleone’s “Me Porto Bonito” came in at No. 7. Chilean singer Cris MJ rounded out the list at No. 10 with the global hit “Una Noche En Medellín.” Among the biggest emerging artists of the year on TikTok, Mexican-American singer Omar Apollo appeared in the top 10. He’s had a breakthrough year thanks to the viral success of “Evergreen” from his debut album Ivory.

On the Global Risers chart, which tracked the artists with the most new followers this year, Bad Bunny came in at No. 1. He was followed by Karol G at No. 2, Rosalía at No. 3, and Loaiza at No. 5. Shakira also made the list at No. 8.
