LISTEN: KATSEYE Taps Ice Spice for New ‘Gnarly’ Drill Remix

KATSEYE teamed up with Ice Spice for their latest remixes drop. On June 6, the international girl group tapped the Dominican-American rapper for the official remix for “Gnarly.” The result? A Bronx drill twist to KATSEYE’s popular hyperpop hit. The catchy remix was co-produced by Ice’s longtime collaborator RIOT.
“Out nowwwwwww,” the Bronx-based rapper announced on her Instagram stories.
KATSEYE, the global girl group that includes Cuban-American singer Daniela Avanzini, recruited another Latina for their newest remix. The remix starts with the song’s bass-heavy club beat that has helped accumulate the group over 100 million streams, per their press release. The beat evolves once the “Boy’s a liar Pt. 2” rapper steps into the microphone, delivering her assertive signature flow with a drill tinge to the original track. After introducing her collaborator with her commonly used producer tag “Stop playin’ with ’em, RIOT,” she continues her verse with her famous ad lib “Grah!” She then raps lines like, “I’m a baddie, I’m rocking Ed Hardy / I’m a baddie, I’m late to the party,” with full-on attitude before name-dropping NBA star LeBron James.
KATSEYE also released a second remix to the same song featuring Lara of KATSEYE, Lancey Foux, and Slush Puppy. “Gnarly” is the group’s first release of their upcoming EP BEAUTIFUL CHAOS. Other popular hits by the group include “Touch” and “Debut.”
On the other hand, Ice Spice released a deluxe version of her debut album last December. The Y2K!: I’m Just A Girl (Deluxe) album included new tracks like “BB Belt (Remix)” with Bb Trickz and “Popa (Remix)” with Anuel AA. Beyond music, she was recently a guest judge for the “Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner!” performance challenge on RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. Colman Domingo was also part of the same premiere episode.
