Remezcla’s Official SXSW 2016 Showcase: Perreo NYC Heads to Austin

Over the course of the past year, we’ve worked hard to make our monthly party series a space where the rigid barriers of traditional nightlife crumble. At Perreo NYC, next wave reggaeton, boom bap hip-hop, and fractured club tracks come together to speak to our borderless, bicultural reality. For a long time, we’ve wanted to take that vision beyond the walls of New York City – so we kicked off 2016 with Perreo’s first Mexico City edition.

Today, we’re happy to announce that Perreo NYC now has another new home: Texas. On Friday, March 18, we’re bringing the next generation of global urban sounds to Swan Dive Patio as part of our official SXSW showcase. The event will feature the talents of six underground powerhouses. First off is Ynfynyt Scroll, whose bubbling, club-ready beats leap from the world of reggaeton to industrial techno in the blink of an eye. We’ll also hear from John Grvy, a Spanish producer who makes slippery electro-R&B. Audri Nix just dropped her debut EP, slowly establishing herself as Puerto Rico’s hypnotic new hip-hop rookie. Mike Towers, a Boricua MC who’s getting co-signs from DJ Khaled and French Montana, will also rep la isla del encanto. Then there’s El Freaky, Colombia’s renowned global bass collective. NAAFI, the Mexican underground label/crew turning heads online across the globe, will top off the night with their edgy, apocalyptic vision of the club.

We’ll rock Swan Dive Patio from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday, March 18. Entry is free for SXSW badges and wristbands, but we’re opening the turn up to the public, so be sure to get there early. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be giving you a primer on all the artists, so stay tuned. Check out the flyer below and be sure to RSVP on Facebook.

Update, 3/4/2016, 4:45 p.m.: Ynfynyt Scroll has replaced Whitest Taino Alive on the Perreo SXSW lineup.
