Peso Pluma is teaming up with his cousin Tito Double P for a new collaborative album. Last night (Dec. 1), the Mexican superstars announced the release date for their upcoming joint LP Dinastía.
Tito Double P hails from Culiacán, Sinaloa, and started out as a songwriter for Peso. Tito co-wrote and co-produced hits like “Rosa Pastel” and “Carnal” from Peso’s Grammy-winning album Génesis. Peso later convinced Tito to become an artist and sign with his Double P record label. Last year, Tito made his debut with the LP Incómodo, which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Album chart. Since then, there were rumblings that Peso and Tito had collaborated on a full project together. Now, the cousins have confirmed that Dinastía is coming soon.
In a video on Instagram, Peso Pluma and Tito Double P announced that their first album together, Dinastía, will be released on Christmas Day. The cinematic video shows the two singers putting on Mexican luchador masks blessed by a priest. As Peso and Tito drive away from the church, a sign outside reveals that Dinastía is coming on Dec. 25. The title is a reference to Peso leading a new family dynasty in the música mexicana scene. It looks like the Aguilars, Fernándezes, and Infantes better make room for the upcoming Double P dynasty.
Last month, Peso Pluma and Tito Double P teased the Dinastía album with their single “Intro.” This past year, música mexicana artists, especially those working on a visa in the States, have shied away from releasing corridos following the crackdown on the genre in the U.S. and Mexico. In this political climate, Peso and Tito surprisingly dropped “Intro,” which is a fiery corrido. Mexican actress Kate del Castillo stars in the video, which also includes a cameo from Double P signee Jasiel Nuñez.
