Rancho Humilde’s Natanael Cano and Junior H will not perform at this weekend’s Rolling Loud California. The music festival, self-described as the world’s largest hip-hop festival, will take place at the Hollywood Park Grounds in Los Angeles, CA, from March 14 to 17. The decision behind their participation comes with some public tension brewing on social media.
The news garnered attention when Rancho Humilde’s CEO, Jimmy Humilde, posted the festival’s lineup graphic with the words: “RACIST!!!!!!” “Junior H Y Natanael Cano will NOT be at Rolling Loud,” and “They just used us for ticket sales!” He captioned the photo: “@rollingloud canceled us last minute! and what’s crazy is that majority ticket buyers are Raza!!!! They f-Kd with the wrong foo.”
Humilde also wrote in his post’s comments: “They stopped answering my calls and told me no tickets [were] sold lol.” Cano and Junior H were promoted as two out of three “special guests” at this year’s festival.
A few hours later, Rolling Loud released a statement. “Natanael Cano and Junior H will not be performing at Rolling Loud California this weekend. Natanael Cano did not obtain the necessary work permits or visas to enable him to perform at the festival,” the festival wrote online. “Junior H will not be performing due to several breaches of contract, including the festival’s radius terms.”
They continued: “If desired, Friday and Sunday single day pass holders are able to switch their pass to Saturday to see Fuerza Regida.” Fuerza Regida is the third special guest that is featured on this year’s lineup.
Jimmy Humilde responded to the festival’s claims on his Instagram, writing, “What permits and what breach of contract?” He also revealed that he’d allegedly be taking legal action. “Your got a lawsuit coming.”
It didn’t take long for the social media users to share their sentiments about the festival’s news.
This year is the first time the music festival is expanding its talent roster with música mexicana artists. Though these two artists will not be present, Chino Pacas is set to perform on Friday (March 15), and Fuerza Regida will perform on Saturday (March 16). The inclusion comes after El Alfa and Anuel made Rolling Loud history by becoming the first Latine artists to perform on the Rolling Loud Stage in Miami, FL, last year.
