Last summer, Rosalía was just getting started. Back then, the Catalan neoflamenco singer hadn’t yet unveiled her acclaimed album El mal querer, collaborated with James Blake, or collected a pair of Latin Grammys. But she was already indicating her star potential even beyond the world of music, when, in July, she announced she’d been cast in the upcoming Pedro Almodóvar film Dolor y Gloria alongside Penélope Cruz and Antonio Banderas. The film chronicles the tale of a Spanish director named Salvador Mallo (Banderas), who, frustrated with his career, revisits his memories of his childhood in the 1960s and as a young man living in Madrid in the 1980s.

Just two weeks ago, the first trailer for Almodóvar’s film was revealed. The mysterious and wordless 90-second clip featured a brief Rosalía cameo, but a brand new version is giving us another sneak peek at Almodóvar’s first film in three years.

In this version, Rosalía sings a rendition of“A Tu Vera,” a song by Andalusian folklore artist Lola Flores, alongside Penélope Cruz. It also reveals more of the film’s plot, as we hear from Banderas’ character through new dialogue. It’s not totally clear who the Catalan singer’s plays just yet, but we’re crossing our fingers for more previews soon.

Pain & Glory is scheduled to be released in Spain on March 22, 2019. A release date for the U.S. has not been set yet.
