Shakira is helping support the relief efforts for the recent deadly floods in Texas. On Saturday night (July 5), the Colombian pop icon spoke up about the tragedy during her concert in San Antonio and revealed how she is giving back.
On July 4, central Texas started flooding due to massive amounts of rainfall. Soon after, the Guadalupe River rose to over 26 feet within 45 minutes, creating multiple flash floods in Kerr County. Camp Mystic, a summer camp on the banks of the river, was hit hard by the floods, with 27 campers and counselors confirmed dead as of press time. In total, at least 90 people have died, and 41 people are reported missing from the catastrophic flooding.
Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour touched down in San Antonio, which is about 85 miles away from the Guadalupe River, on July 5. The day before, she expressed her condolences to the people affected by the floods, especially to the families of the girls who were at Camp Mystic. “I just landed in San Antonio, devastated to hear the news of the floods, the deaths, and the girls still missing,” Shakira wrote in a post on X. “I can only think of their families and their immense pain. My prayers are with you on this sad day.”
On the day of the concert at the Alamodome, Shakira spoke with the crowd about her thoughts on the tragedy. “I want to dedicate this concert to those no longer with us,” she said. “San Antonio, my heart is with you tonight more than ever. Tonight, we are one.”

Shakira also revealed that she donated proceeds from that show to the Catholic Charities of San Antonio, which is providing relief to people affected by the floods. She also encouraged her fans to donate to the cause.
