Shakira will headline one of the biggest music festivals in the world. This morning (July 22), the Colombian pop icon announced that she will perform at the 2025 Global Citizen Festival alongside artists like The Weeknd and Tyla. The festival will take place on Sept. 27 at the Great Lawn in Central Park in New York, NY.
The Global Citizen Festival is an annual event first organized by the Global Poverty Project in 2012. In previous installments, the benefit event has been headlined by acts like Coldplay, Rihanna, Stevie Wonder, Cardi B, The Weeknd, and Shakira. After performing at the festival in 2017, the “Hips Don’t Lie” hit-maker will return as a co-headliner this year alongside The Weeknd.
“I’m honored to headline the incredible Global Citizen Festival in Central Park this September,” Shakira said in a statement. “Music has always been my way of connecting with people and leaving a mark on the world. I can’t wait to perform, unite, and inspire action.”
On the lineup, Shakira and The Weeknd will be joined by Tyla, Ayra Starr, and Mariah the Scientist. The event will be hosted by actor Hugh Jackman. The goals for the 2025 Global Citizen Festival include providing energy access to one million people across Africa, mobilizing $200 million to help protect 30 million hectares of the Amazon rainforest, and providing access to education for 30,000 children around the world.

“Ending extreme poverty is within our reach – but only if we come together to ensure governments and corporations deliver on their promises: scaling up renewable energy, protecting the Amazon, and investing in education for the next generation,” added Hugh Evans, Global Citizen’s co-founder and CEO.
More artists on the lineup will be announced in the coming weeks. For free tickets, fans can check out the Global Citizen app or visit the festival’s official website to learn about opportunities to get involved. Shakira is currently on the U.S. leg of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour.
