One of reggaeton mexa’s top artists has gone dembow. Today (July 15), rising Mexican star Bellakath released her album Sata 42, which includes features from Dominican artists like La Perversa, La Materialista, and more.

Before Yng Lvcas and Peso Pluma hit it big with “La Bebe” remix, the first artist to put reggaeton mexa on the map was Bellakath. The Mexico City native scored a global smash a few months prior with “Gatita,” which went viral on TikTok. The song has racked up over 222 million streams on Spotify. Last year, Bellakath continued to churn out the hits on her debut album Kittyponeo, including “Reggaeton Champagne” and “Tuma.”

Back in May, Bellakath signed with Warner Music México. Following that breakthrough in her career, she took a trip to the Dominican Republic to work on the Sata 42 album. Bellakath explored dembow music for the first time with different Dominican acts. “Thank you Dominican Republic for your lessons,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “Thank you always to my Mexico. This is Dominican dembow!”

Bellakath finds her footing in dembow with her signature high-pitched voice, fierce flow, and the support of many Dominican dembowseros. Among the collaborations with dembow royalty on Sata 42 are “Tota” with La Peversa and “Quiero Coger” with La Materialista. Bellakath also joins forces with Quimico Ultra Mega in “Nena Del Caserío” and ADAN for “Malito.” She also teamed up with Jey One, Lomiell, La Más Doll, and Donaty — who all had some of the biggest dembows of 2023 — on “Otra Cosa,” “Chupa Coño,” “Clito,” and “Mama Huevo,” respectively. The LP also includes a feature by Menor Queen on “Tu No La Tiene.”

Bellakath continues to push the reggaeton mexa scene forward now by introducing Mexican culture and flow to dembow music. In her Instagram post, the artist also promised that the music videos for Sata 42 album will start coming out later today. In addition to working on the songs in the Dominican Republic, she recorded the music videos there as well.
