One of Jenni Rivera’s beloved albums will be available on vinyl for the first time. This afternoon (Nov. 27), the late Mexican-American icon’s estate announced that La Gran Señora will be released on vinyl later this week.
La Gran Señora was a fan-favorite album released during Rivera’s lifetime. Though she is known for being a female pioneer in banda music, this LP from Dec. 2009 saw her embrace a different sound. She channeled her parrandera spirit into the mariachi genre. Hits from this album include the emotional and heartbreaking “Ya Lo Sé,” the fiery “Por Qué No Le Calas,” and the empowering “La Gran Señora.” To celebrate the 15th anniversary of La Gran Señora, it will be available on vinyl for the first time.
“Our previous vinyl releases of my mom’s music were incredibly successful, and they’ve inspired fans to ask for even more of her catalog in this format,” Johnny Lopez, Rivera’s son, shared in a statement. “La Gran Señora has been one of the most requested albums. To honor the 15th anniversary, we felt this was the perfect time to release it on vinyl for the first time. We hope this special edition allows fans to celebrate and cherish my mom’s legacy in a unique and personal way.”
The special edition vinyl of La Gran Señora will be released this Friday, Nov. 29. To match La Diva de la Banda’s lipstick color on the cover art, the music from the album was pressed on neon pink vinyl. Fans can pre-order the vinyl here. Rivera’s web store also has her posthumous album Misión Cumplida available on vinyl.

Though she passed away in Dec. 2012, Rivera’s family continues to keep her legacy alive. Back in June, Jenni was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Next month, a biopic will also be released.
